Note about sending packages/valuables: Peace Corps advises against sending large packages, money or airline tickets. All packages are subject to customs and duty fees that are based on the value of the items enclosed. So don't send valuable stuff, and make sure the value of the items is listed as zero, or I'll pay dearly from my living stipend. They use the value you write as the base for what I´ll pay to get it from the post office...that´s a lot of Bolivianos. Other tips include writing "materiales religiosos" as the description, including a list of items inside the package, and keeping the size to a standard padded envelope. 2 light packages are much better than one, if you have to send shoes, send them individually because half a pair of shoes is useless so won´t get stolen.
Things you could send easily. 2 light packages are better than one heavy.
- Emergen-C packets; best way to ensure baby is taking her vitamins (I especially like the ones with extra B vitamins)
- magazines: cooking/crafts magazines totally work with my current activities and situation; anything else, from trashy to classy...i'll read it!
- quality insence, none of that perfumey stuff. i looove sandalwwod.
- vegetable seeds of interesting varieties--look for things that are "open-pollinated" or non-hybrids, to facilitate seed-saving and thus sustainability in my community; you'll be directly contributing to my project!
- strong cotton socks--I'm a size 8-9
- plain old letters (an excellent choice)
- teas-bags or loose, i have brewing capabilities :)
- books in english or espanol
- comic strips, news articles (mom I know you´re on top of that)
- Saltines, ginger snaps, candied ginger...for my sad little tummy.
- CD´s, mixed or otherwise, DVD's, TV series, funny home videos burned onto DVD
- Almonds, nuts, trail mix, granola-y stuff
- Sour patch watermelons
- gummy candies in general...worms, bears, coca-cola bottles. Think Wegman´s bulk candy.
- Dried fruit (but we do get good fruit here too).

This is a SPECTACULAR jumping picture and I look forward to the amazing coffee table book you will publish after your years in Bolivia. It makes me hear that old Pointer Sisters song --- oh, you're too young to know that one, sorry. Any news on a new address? Care packages must be sent. Love, UK
